What's the difference between Forum Points and Reward Gift Points?

The Forum displays two different types of points, so this is a good place to ask questions about the difference.

Forum Points measure community participation and can be used for Forum statistics, badges, and leaderboard features. Reward Gift Points are redeemable through the Vanbrera Rewards Hub. Some eligible Forum activities can earn both, but they remain separate balances.
