Centered text or custom layouts?

For memorial stones, gifts, garden stones, and keepsakes, when do you prefer simple centered text versus a more elaborate layout?

Centered text is safest and reads cleanly on irregular stones. Custom layouts can look amazing but need a mockup before engraving — a good proof photo saves both sides from surprises.
