Why do corners sometimes lift even when the first layer looks good?

If the center of a print is sticking perfectly but the corners begin curling upward later, what are the first things you would investigate? Bed temperature? Cooling? Drafts? Build plate cleanliness?

Drafts and cold spots. Even with a good first layer, cooling shrinkage curls corners. Fix with a brim, an enclosure or draft shield, or +5°C on the bed — and keep the printer away from AC vents.
