What should a brand-new 3D printer owner learn first?

There are hundreds of settings in modern slicers, but beginners obviously don't need to understand everything on day one. What are the first five things you think a new printer owner should learn?

Master the first layer. Bed cleaning, leveling, and Z-offset are 80% of print quality — spend week one printing small one-layer test squares until you can nail them every time.
